Saturday April 29th, Cittavino & Co.

hosts a tasting of premier volcanic wines.

Italy is home to Europe's most active volcanoes. Most of these volcanic zones are in the South of the country and coincidentally, are the least well known! This tasting course will explore 6 of these exciting regions, obscure grape varieties, and regional food pairings.

Join us for an evening dedicated to Italian history, traditions, food, and friends.

The event will be held at the Prima Materia tasting room in the Temescal Alley in Oakand CA.

Space is incredibly limited, we can only seat 12 people!

Selection of Foods

Central Moliterno
This classic Sheep’s milk cheese from Sardinia, is produced by the Master Cheese Makers from the Villecco Family. The cheese is aged in straw baskets (“Incanestro” style), resulting in a lovely textured rind. During aging, the cheese is rubbed with olive oil, to ensure it stays moist and succulent. Full-flavored, rich, nutty and savory with a hint of sweetness, Moliterno is a royal addition to any cheese board.

Taralli Finocchio

The Danieli company crafts their pride and joy, "il tarallo," in the heart of Puglia in the town of Bitonto. Every day they strictly hand make taralli according to traditional recipes that have been handed down in secret and scrupulously guarded.

Danieli's Taralli have a wonderful savory flavor, rich with high-quality extra virgin olive oil, and studded with aromatic fennel seeds. They have an outstanding flaky texture, similar to that of a laminated pastry. Taralli are an essential component of an aperitivo in southern Italy.

Masseria Mirogallo Sundried Tomatoes
The flavor of the Masseria Mirogallo Sundried Tomatoes is incredible. Perfectly made, still bright red in color and with a supple meaty texture that will surprise anyone. Marinated in high quality extra virgin olive oil.

Since the 1800s, one of the largest farms in Lucana Valley of Basilicata, Italy has been owned by the Mirogallo family who specialize in the cultivation and preservation of heirloom varieties of fruit and vegetables. Everything they put in a jar comes from their fields. The only preservatives they use are vinegar and salt. Perfectly made, still bright red in color, and with a supple meaty texture that will surprise anyone. Marinated in high-quality extra virgin olive
