Cittavino & Co. is partnering with Lucidity Wine Merchants to bring you a consumer and trade tasting of the Palmento Costanzo wines from Mt. Etna, Sicily.

In 2010 the Costanzo Family purchased an old Palmento nestled in the heart of the Contrada Santo Spirito in Passopisciaro, on the North side of Mt Etna, along with a few hectares of old, pre-phylloxera vineyards. Following a careful and respectful restoration of the Palmento, the family purchased the remaining hectares around the winery and replanted them using the same restorative philosophy that inspired the architecture of the Palmento: planting exclusively native grapes of the area (Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante, and Catarratto), and using the ancient local “Alberello” system. More recently, they purchased a small plot in Contrada Cavaliere, on the southwestern side of the Volcano, well known for its Carricante vineyards and different soil types. 
 
We will start with a short seminar introducing the wines (please RSVP in the ticket option. The seminar is not an extra cost but has limited seating) and the various soils and expositions of Mt. Etna. Post seminar, a walk around tasting where you can chat with Emilia Aiello of Cittavino & Co. and Giuseppe LoCascio of Lucidity and indulge in tasty Sicilian bites provided by Little Hat Catering.
