These Italian candies are delicious when paired with tea, coffee, or even hot cocoa. Or you can break pieces over a bowl of ice cream or gelato for an indulgent treat.
-Artibel Calabrian Figs 200g box For over 30 years, the Arlia family of Artibel has been creating fig delicacies from one of the world’s most renowned varieties which thrives in the Calabrian hills: the Dottato fig of Cosenza DOP. This particular variety is prized for its honey-sweet aroma and juicy pulp with very tiny seeds.
This Calabrian specialty begins with a careful harvest of superior Dottato figs from Artibel’s own farm overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea. The figs are hand-plucked during the last sweltering summer days, once they have started to sun-dry on the branches. After a meticulous hand-selection, they are laid out on large mats to finish drying under the sun until reduced to a third of their size. They are then slowly baked until their natural sugars caramelize and glaze the figs.
