2018 Madonna delle Grazie 'Messer Oto' Aglianico del Vulture DOC

Cantina Madonna delle Grazie is a very small, family run winery located in the Venosa district.  Michele and his father are responsible for planting and maintaining the family’s historic vineyard collection planted exclusively to ancient massal selections—vine cuttings of unique, heirloom biotypes. Because of their work, few can boast the old age and genetic value of the Latoracca vineyards. The vineyards are organic.

Messer Oto comes from a younger plot, 15-20yrs old, in the Fiano di Camera district in Venosa, about 450m asl. The zone is still classified as volcanic and part of Vulture, but the heavy limestone presence gives this wine an unexpected lift. Fully de-stemmed, native yeast fermentation in stainless steel, lightly (wide mesh) filtered, no fining or sterile filtration, low sulfur counts
