Get to know their classic style and the terroir of the southeastern slopes of Mt. Etna!
The Biondi family has a long tradition of grape growing and winemaking on Mt. Etna. It was not, however, until 1999 when Ciro and Stef Biondi decided to return to the family vineyards and reinvest in the family business did their wines gain notoriety. The Biondi are one of the founding wineries of Mt. Etna’s new wave of winemaking and truly deserve credit in its exploding reputation.
Outis means “no one”, and is a little inside between Stef and Ciro (they will gladly share with you when you go visit ;) and is a blend of native Aetnean grapes: Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Certified organic, medium bodied, med+ acid, cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, licorice, black pepper.
The Etna Bianco is a mystifying blend of: Carricante (90%), Cataratto, Minnella, and a minute percentage of Moscatello dell'Etna. The majority of Etna winemakers only work with Carricante and Cataratto and without producers like Ciro and Stef, who believe in their Etna terroir beyond prestige and wine ratings, these more obscure varieties wouldn't exist.
