2020 Alice Bonaccorsi Val Cerasa Carricante Terre Siciliane Bianco (Mt. Etna)
This is not a producer name that Etna obsessors are familiar with and it's because Alice Bonaccorsi has always marched to the beat of her own drum (you will notice that despite coming from Etna and made with approved grape varieties, Alice’s Valcerasa Bianco is not an Etna DOC- it’s too golden to pass the tasting panel as an Etna DOC).
The small family vineyard was in the Piemonte Etnea area, about 800 meters above sea level, in the Val Cerasa “cherry valley” district. In 2000, Alice and her husband Rosario embarked on a new adventure, deciding to purchase a new piece of land located in the Contrada Croce Monaci in Randazzo, laying the foundations for what is now the Valcerasa Winery. Over the course of two decades they managed to expand their property from 3 to approximately 18 hectares of land. Bonaccorsi is certified organic and is strongly committed to promoting biodiversity, maintaining spontaneous vegetation, and preserving fruit trees that contribute to the natural balance. Their vineyards stem from plants that are 80 years old, and their care relies solely on the use of copper-based sulfur (organic accepted vineyard treatments).
