Aetnean Garnacha (Alicante) Trio
This three pack comes with all the geeky producer info, history, geology, and winemaking details, for each wine.
Italian Grenache is not to be overlooked. Not just because they are extremely tasty, but because the presence of the grape in Italy has everything to do with the history of the Peninsula, and its ultimate formation into Italy.
It's widely known that Sardegna's Cannonau is identical to Grenache (but stand by, it's absolutely more nuanced than that! The grape has been growing on the Island for over 700yrs), but where else?
Mt. Etna has a strong tradition of Grenache, certainly dating back to the Spanish occupation of the South, but could it have appeared before? In our deep dives of Etna, we suspect that the Aragonese could have gotten there first. Comunque (anyway), Aetnean Garnacha is not to be scoffed at- combine the fruity pleasure of Grenache with the volcanic power translated to acid and structure, and you have yourself an unprecedented combo.
This trio will open your eyes to a new (actually old...historically and the vines are old, 80+ years!) Etna.
