Rampone Valle d’Itria Bianco IGT This Minutolo is unlike any other. If you have tried the grape, you might know it for its more extreme tropical profile that the more southern and hotter Pugliese zones produce. I Pastini offers more of a restrained style, less ripe, and surprisingly bright acid. Expect whiffs of green pineapple and kiwi. Who would have thought Puglia could pump out such a bright, low alcohol wine?! The hidden limestone gems and higher elevations of the Valle d’Itria are some of the most underrated growing areas in Italy .
• Hand harvested (of course! I can with 100% confidence say that no wine featured in the Cittavino shop comes from grapes harvested mechanically).
• Temperature-controlled fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks
• Aged in stainless steel tanks for 5 to 6 months
• No malolactic fermentation
• Aged in bottle for 3 months
• Minutolo is distantly related to the Moscato family and produces dry, aromatic white wines. It is considered a native variety to Puglia
I Pàstini is a small, family-run winery in the Valle d’Itria in eastern central Puglia. Founded by Gianni Carparelli and his father Donato, they grow their grapes on land their ancestors worked: a beautiful limestone plateau overlooking the Adriatic Sea that is co-planted to ancient, (multi-millennia old), olive groves. They are certified organic and use native yeasts in the cellars.
