2020 Masseria Setteporte Etna Rosso
From the Southern slopes of Mt. Etna, Sicily, this 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio blend may be a little fuller and lush than you’d expect from Mt. Etna. It comes from the warmer, south facing vineyards, but do not surprised to find it still has that bright acid we all expect from Volcanic and high elevation wines.
The Portale family, owners of Masseria Setteporte, have passed their winemaking tradition down through generations. The farm was first modernized by Ferdinando Portale who turned the classic bush trained vineyards into a vertical trellis system.
The vineyards are cultivated on terraces facing south, at an altitude between 650 and 800 m a.s.l. in Biancavilla, where the ancient Ellitico soils combined with the southern exposition make powerful, high acid, ageable wines.
They are certified Organic.
