2022 Vino Lauria 'Zio Paolo' Rosato Sicilia IGT

With winemaking in his family’s blood, Vito Lauria decided to attend the University of Udine in Friuli where he obtained a degree in enology in 2003. He worked at a number of wineries in northern Italy before returning to Sicily in 2005. Vito came home to open the old family winery in Alcamo, 30 miles West of Palermo. The wine is made with organic grapes from the clay and calcareous “Zio Paolo” vineyard in a minimal intervention manner in stainless steel. Frappato’s aromatic character is here, but certainly more subtle. Undertones of the quintessential rosy note hide under a more herbal, sage-like whiff. The notes of orange zest and rhubarb will pair great with the Zucchini pesto recipe on the Substack!
