The rose' of our southern Italian dreams...

We're fans of dark rose' over here. While certainly we are up for crushing almost any kind of rosato, the more dark (longer macerated), rich, food pairing, traditional rose' of southern Italy will always be a first love. Dark raspberry, fennel, mint, this is a complex rose' meant for spicy tomato pasta dishes, shellfish, roast pork, and so much more. It's versatility earns its place as an everyday staple that can adapt to any occasion. Minimal sulfur, ~30mg/L. This is pugliese rosato at its truest and finest.

A true family affair in Castellaneta, Puglia.

Run by husband and wife team Francesco and Anna Maria Dibenedetto along with their four children, Francesco considers the family’s involvement as the only reason he can produce as much as he does. At 100,000 bottles/year, for a minimal intervention winemaker, organic+ grower, their production levels are on the high end.

From Castellaneta, Puglia, about 350m asl with mixed soils of sand, clay and even calcareous material (we are close to Matera in this zone).

Organic + (certified organic, but go beyond)

Inspired by the philosophy of Rudolph Steiner and Biodynamic principles as well as Japanese philosopher and pioneer in “do nothing” farming, Masanobu Fukuoka, Francesco has codified his own methodology called Agricoltura Sinergetica, which is a hyper focus on the vineyard ecosystem and the aliveness of the soil.
