Frascati is located in the Colli Romani- a series of medieval towns with ancient Roman Villas and Popes’ ‘castles’. The wine was once revered as a great wine of Italy, but the style became thin and low quality, one really has to search for a great wine from the area. Raised entirely in steel, this Lazio classic is made by the 6th generation guru of Frascati, Antonio Pulcini. The Malvasia Puntinata , Trebbiano, and Malvasia di Candia vines grow on volcanic tuff, giving that very slight reductive, but more flinty, touch to the wine.
